Over the last few weeks Camberwell Petanque Club has enjoyed the playing skills of visitor from the Netherlands, Willem Nederstigt. Known as “Wim”.

Wim was on a holiday visiting his daughter Marianne, who lives locally.
Although his stay was just a few short weeks, he was missing playing the game of Petanque.

His Daughter contacted Camberwell Petanque Club and arrangements were made for Wim to join in the competition.

Although finding our terrains much more stony, and difficult to play, Wim was on the winning Diaz more than once.

Wim,(72 years old) lives in Bergambacht, together with Mariannes mother “Bea”. It’s a small country town not far from Rotterdam, with approximately 10,000 residents.

Next to playing at his home club, he enjoys playing the game during his camper travels through Europe. During these travels is where he picked up his passion for the game initially. He recently played in Altea (Spain) before he came over to Melbourne.

He became a member at the local petanque club in Bergambacht (they call it “jeu de boules vereniging”) several years ago and is an active player for over two. This club has roughly 80 members, and they also play regional competitions. The club is active throughout the year - they play in summer and winter and night times under the lights.

Not unlike CPC who have over 100 members play all year round and also under lights in the evening.

On Wim’s last night of playing President Mick Berry presented Wim with one of the Clubs Hats.
