We think it's a fabulous first, two of the Club's well known personalities get married. And not just in any old Church but the beautiful St James in Wood Street right opposite where Camberwellians played before moving to Lynden Park. Trish and Mick's romance has been wonderful to watch in anticipation of the big day and despite it being 36 degrees there were probably more admirers from the Club than would have played that day. Perhaps not surprising as all those who came to cheer forTrish and Mick did not dutifully return to the Club to play but went for a very good 'Italian Yum Cha' at a cool pub round the corner. Who would blame us!
The church was beautifully decorated the service was to the point and Mick's brother gave a warm and funny speech embracing both Trish and Mick's previous happy marriages - and something about the No.8 tram.
Now the Monkey is no fashionista but has to report that Mick looked great, just the right colour grey, the suit that is, a matching pale pink buttonhole, all topped of with a fixed grin of happiness. Who wouldn't be.
The other story of the day was Trish who chose to break a few wedding conventions and get married in black. Is there something in her past we don't know about! But not just any old black but an absolutely exquisite organza creation with the most beautiful floral pattern. It would have stood out on any catwalk. While Mick and Trish were both topped off with happiness Trish had something extra, a hat to die for! Indescribably lopsided, bursting with flowers, quite amazing. But can you see something else, a little mystery. Look at the last photo compared to others, what are those things there, nestling under the brim, a llama? a duck? a red-footed, yellow check turtle? Wonder who snuck 'em there. Much more imaginative than tying a few cans to the getaway car.
